naisen muotokuva puolivartalo

Portrait of Professor Minna Nyström, University of Helsinki Museum Collection.

The process felt interesting, motivating, and perhaps a little challenging. The goal was to create a portrait where the person looked like themselves while also depicting the model's inner world.

My work took several months. The process felt interesting, motivating, and perhaps a little challenging. The goal was to create a portrait where the person looks like themselves, and at the same time, to depict a work that reflects the model's inner world and the significance of their professional life, as the portrait was commissioned for the University of Helsinki collection.

In painting, this can be achieved through the background, the movements of the hands, and the overall composition of the artwork. However, the piece is painted in a very personal way. For example, Minna's favorite colors are used in the semi-abstract background, which glow and speak of her work environment.

Thanks to Professor Minna Nyström for her cooperation. In the end, I produced a beautiful work and received very good feedback from both the client and the University of Helsinki Museum.

⭐️I immediately fell in love with Svetlana's artwork when I saw it online, and fortunately, she agreed to paint my portrait. It was a great experience to peek into the artist's daily life; into the smell of paint in the artist's residency and the world of painting tools. Being a model for the portrait was effortless, and our discussions were open and constructive. I gave feedback and shared my own views, but ultimately, I trusted Svetlana's excellent professionalism. The end result couldn't be better!

⭐️The portrait has now been hung, a truly magnificent painting, many thanks to you!
