Dare to fly
This painting captures spring, sunlight and the joy of childhood. Nature is full of endless colours and shades that tell their own stories. On walks, I often stop to explore the textures of trees and the richness of their shades. Even in my school days, I realised that tree trunks are not just brown – the trunk and bark of birch trees in particular reveal a surprisingly multi-coloured world. This observation inspired me to create works with a palette of light tones.
There was a large birch tree growing at our cottage, whose branches invited the children to climb. Up in the tree it was like a world of its own – you could see far, your legs could swing in the air, and for a moment it felt like you could fly.
This painting, “Dare to Fly,” was born from this memory. The work uses ancient craft materials – real birch bark, small branches, and other mixed media elements. It is a tribute to those moments when courage and freedom carry us to completely new dimensions.
