On June 26, the City of Kauniainen donated my artwork "Saari" (40 x 50 cm) to the Mayor of Vantaa upon his retirement.
It is always especially touching when a significant life stage comes to an end. A gift doesn't have to be big or expensive to touch the heart – sometimes a small landscape piece carries decades of memories and gratitude.
In 2021, I had the pleasure of creating 100 Päijänne landscape artworks for the Jyväskylä Hospital District as retirement gifts. Many recipients have since told me how much they appreciate the artwork. Some feel as if they have visited those very landscapes themselves, or that their cottage is located precisely where the landscape was painted. Such encounters remind me of my guiding principle: that art touches the heart.
