The girl in the blue beret. The story of my family portrait, which happened years ago...

Tyttö sinisessä baskerissa. Perheeni muotokuvan tarina, joka tapahtui vuosia sitten...

I was asked - Do you like painting portraits? Of course, I graduated from the painting department of the Repin Institute, which specializes in artistic portrait painting.

Sometimes, even in a still life where there is no human figure, I want to paint it in such a way that the viewer gets the feeling that the main character is only momentarily absent. I visualize the person in my mind, and some detail in the painting refers to them: an open book, a carelessly thrown shawl on a chair, a half-empty teacup, or a cat sitting on a chair, just waking up but soon to be chasing after its owner.

At the Artists' Association exhibition, which I participated in for the first time, I presented the work Girl in a Blue Beret – a portrait of my younger sister. The painting was inspired by Valentin Serov's portraits, as I greatly admire his art.

After the exhibition, I arrived to pick up my work, but I couldn't find it. It turned out that the painting had been taken to the gallery for sale. I asked for the work back, as works related to family are not for sale.
