Kotka is a wonderful summer city, offering excellent opportunities for diverse landscape painting. The course combines theoretical instruction with outdoor painting, giving you the chance to learn new things and develop your skills under the guidance of a professional artist-teacher. The goal is bold and confident use of colors!
The themes of the course are Beautiful Local Landscape and Light Ratios and Aerial Perspective. The teacher provides encouraging and inspiring instruction and practical tips for developing your painting.
Time and Place: Friday-Sunday, August 1-3, 2025, 10 AM - 5 PM. Kymenlaakso Summer University premises, Laivurinkatu 7, Kotka.
What will be done on the course?
- Indoors, watercolors, aquarelles, and drawing tools will be used.
- Outdoors, you can also paint with oil paints and acrylics.
- We will focus on painting light and shadow, landscape values, and reflections.
- We will strengthen perspective skills through practical exercises.
- You will receive practical tips from the teacher on various techniques: watercolor, acrylic, and oil painting, as well as drawing techniques.
Teacher: Svetlana Ruoho
The course instructor is a professional artist, a member of the Finnish Painters’ Union, Espoon Kuvataiteilijat ry, and Jyväskylä Artists’ Association, and the chair of Espoo Artists' Guild.
